2020 was a great year for multiplayer games, whether you want to relax and hangout with your friends or get extremely not relaxed with some friends. Our next pick for one of our favourite games of the year: the latter. It’s Valorant! Ed: Valorant is a multiplayer first-person shooter that’s basically Counter-Strike with wizards and ninjas. This means it has this emphasis on precise trigger pulls and crisp headshots, but with an added blend of hero abilities mixed in too....

I would have said that about The Suicide Of Rachel Foster too, at least based on the bulk of the game. It’s the work of Mrmo Tarius, created to demonstrate their fancy new halftone shader for Blender, which gives computer graphics the effect of being printed using the halftone process (which uses patterns of dots to trick the eye). Blockdown Simulator shows how a pandemic spreads, turning regular villagers into zombie villagers. The map has two modes: one where you just observe what’s going on sort of like a diorama and a second mode where you actively participate as a nurse wearing scrubs and a protective face mask as you help treat your zombified villagers. “It is by no means an accurate model of the Covid-19 pandemic but is simply meant to visualise the concept in a digestible way with the help of Minecraft,” Mojang say of the map created by design company AKQA....

The Bundle For Ukraine on Itch.io started out with a goal of $1 million, and has since blown through that and several more, most recently passing $6 million. All proceeds will be split between the International Medical Corps, providing medical aid in the region, and Voices Of Children, a Ukranian charity who provide psychological and psychosocial help for children affected by war. The bundle has grown slightly since launch, now packing 988 items: 577 video games, 319 physical games, 51 game-making assets, 9 soundtracks, 10 tools, 22 books, and 10 comics....

Touhou Project is a long-running bullet hell shoot ’em up doujin (Japanese hobbyist) series created by one-man team Team Shanghai Alice. Fans are largely allowed to use Touhou characters in bizarre and wonderful new games of their own, as the scene is focused on the love of creation. Original story 1.20pm: Twitch has reportedly been attacked by an anonymous hacker who has allegedly leaked a large amount of data, from source code to streamer earnings. A 4chan user has posted a 128GB torrent supposedly containing the leaked info, and more could be leaked down the line. There’s also a suggestion that user passwords might be compromised, so now is probably a good time to change yours. The 4chan poster says the leak is intended to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space” because the community is “a disgusting toxic cesspool”....
